The first Venice International Film Festival from the Archive of La Biennale di Venezia – Ca’ Giustinian
By
Among our most recent creations, we are glad to count the set-up of the entire exhibition The first Venice International Film Festival from the Archive of La Biennale di Venezia, inaugurated at the Portego di Ca ‘Giustinian.
Organized by the Historical Archive of the Contemporary Arts (ASAC) to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Venice International Film Festival, the exhibition illustrates and documents the first edition of the event, which took place from 6 to 21 August 1932 on the terrace of the Hotel Excelsior at the Lido of Venice, under the name of Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica.
Among the materials preserved in the Historical Archive since 1932 and now on exhibit, there are original posters and playbills of the programs, scene photos of the films presented, current photos of the Lido of the time, documents and correspondences that testify the birth and organization of the Exhibition, including the letter with which Louis Lumière, considered the father of the cinema, agrees to be part of the Honour Committee.
Our team is proud of the work carried out, which allows the visitor to immerse in the past through direct contact with precious documents and testimonies of that era, thus also underlining the longevity and prestige that accompany one of the most important events dedicated to cinema in the world.
