According to the latest data released by the Luxury Hotel Monitor, based on a survey conducted on a sample of 380 owners and managers of 5-stars and luxury hotels, Italy is witnessing an increased competition in the top-end hotel segment, the growth of the presence of foreign investors and a lower domestic demand, counterbalanced by a higher interest for high-level services such as design restaurant / bar, spa or concierge advice.
According to Censis, in recent years Italy has faced a radical transformation of the concept of luxury, now increasingly perceived as “an emotion” and less tied to material products such as super cars or designer clothes. Also thanks to this trend, Italy has the chance to win the first place among world destinations for luxury tourism, as a country where you can experience unique and authentic “emotional experiences”. In Italy, in fact, the 5-star hotels have increased by 41% in recent years.
In view of these encouraging trends, the operators of the hospitality industry are called to offer higher quality facilities and services, also in order to deal with a more widespread phenomenon: the offer of private accommodation for rent led by websites such as the well known Airbnb.
