How Interior Design must adapt to different market sectors

A successful interior design project must be developed according to the needs of the final user, be it for a private home, a commercial space or a hotel, as his perception will be very much influenced by different aspect of the rooms decoration. Besides functionality, the project should anticipate the customers’ requirements by “creating” the perfect fulfilling experience, both visually and emotionally.
In a restaurant, for example, the design should not hinder the work of the staff that has to move around quickly and in respect of safety standards, whilst working spaces need to combine the company’s values with the productivity of the employees. While in this case, the lighting needs to be widespread and calibrated according to the computers screens position, in a restaurant it is necessary to created light spots that illuminate the centre of the tables, and of course the dishes, without hitting the eyes directly.
When designing a commercial space, on the other side, the communication strategy becomes a key factor, besides the commercial and functional aspects, as it will create the right conditions for a proper vendor-customer interaction. It will be the result of an in-depth quantitative analysis as well as a careful study that involes colours, scents and sound variables. A careful arrangement of furniture and a targeted visual merchandising study are, in fact, fundamental factors that can positively influence the perception of the end-users, while the lighting should focus the customer’s attention on the products displayed.
Therefore, a project of interior design, besides being characterised by the nature of its intended use, should meet the end customer’s inner wishes, whilst facilitating at the same time the fruition of values and atmospheres.
Lately we have seen a major evolution of exhibition stands. Let’s see why.
