Indigo Lewin. Artist in residence 2021 – Arsenale of Venice

From 22 to 31 July, the Venice Arsenale hosts the exhibition of Indigo Lewin, that for the first time displays the shots taken by the photographer during her 2021 residency at the Biennale, aimed at documenting Wayne McGregor’s first year as Artistic Director of the Biennale Danza.
Set up in the prestigious context of the Arsenale, the exhibition departs from the traditional dance photography, showing the almost voyeuristic approach taken by Lewin during the documentation and his raw and deeply intimate gaze, capable of grasping the dancers’ body language and the essence of dance through the intertwining of forms, the fascination for the physical figure and the moments of quiet between one show and another.
Our team created a minimal setting for the exhibition, enriched by elements suspended in the air, which accompanies the visitor during a visit capable of showing dance and its behind the scenes from a delicate and unusual perspective.
